Chapter Ten – Ty

My whole family knew I’d been with Meghan the moment they all got home that night. Thankfully, my mom and dad pretended they didn’t notice it, but I didn’t get that fortunate with Rex. My brother was an asshole, and he glowered at me all night. He waited until our parents were in bed before approaching me about it, though.

He barged his way into my room, folded his arms over his chest, and frowned at me. “You and the omega. Didn’t know you worked that fast, brother. Kudos to you.” He smirked, though the expression covered a sneer. “How was she? Did you mark her?”

I was in the process of changing, but the moment he asked that, I froze and glared at him, pulling down my shirt over my head. My glare told him all he needed to know.

“Oh? Was she terrible? I find that hard to believe. Omegas were made for us, so I doubt—”

I straightened my shoulders and ground my teeth. “It’s none of your business, Rex.”

He pushed away from the door, meeting me in my room. We were the same height, so it wasn’t like he could tower over me or use his musculature to his advantage. He couldn’t intimidate me, and he knew that.

Still, he was enough of a jerk that he tried to. “I think it is. I think this whole thing is my business since none of us can seem to stay away from her. She might be one of us, she might be an omega, but we don’t need to lose our shit over her.”

“Funny you say that,” I shot back, “considering you were all over her when you first met her.”

“Yeah, well, I changed my mind. I don’t need her.” Based on his expression, I could tell Rex was putting up a front. He didn’t really believe he didn’t need her; it’s just what he wanted me to think.

My voice was quiet as I asked, “Why lie?”

His jaw ground. “I’m not lying. I mean it. I’ve survived this long without an omega beneath me, and I’ll keep surviving. You and the beta might think with your cocks when around her, but I refuse to lose my head over some pussy—” It was all he could get out, mostly because I grabbed him by the shoulders and spun him, pushing him against the nearest wall.

“Don’t call her that,” I hissed out, baring my teeth at my own brother.

Rex pushed me off, and we stood there for a moment, silently glaring at each other, each of us fuming for different reasons… and yet, in the end, those reasons were due to one person, one omega. Meghan.

“So protective of her already,” he growled out, frowning at me. “It’s sickening, really. She’s got you wrapped around her finger. What the fuck are you going to do when she leaves, huh? You gonna go with her and abandon everything you’ve ever known?” His gaze narrowed at me, his fury plain as day.

“I’m not leaving Nevere,” I told him, though I knew he didn’t believe me.
